Let's Take A Peek At Your Inner Woman: Healed or Hurting?

Life sometimes isn’t kind. I know it. I’ve been there. Can you relate?

You’ve had to walk through some hard places and you sometimes wonder if you’ve fully recovered or if you’re still hurting, even a little bit.

If that’s you, this blog post is definitely for you.

You’re going to learn useful tips to know for sure if you are healed or if you’re still hurting from experiences you have gone through.

Whether you’ve faced rejection, a broken relationship, loss…it doesn’t matter.

Hurt is hurt.

What’s Inside?

The inside of a person is hidden from the outside world but the eyes of the LORD sees our innermost beings. We can’t hide from Him.

Ps. 139: 1 says O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

Further we know from Scripture some things God wants to see in a healed heart or in our inner woman :

For instance Psalm 51:6 says Behold, You (God) desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.

Two things to look for in a healed heart are:

  • Truth-the whole truth, certainty, honesty, faithfulness (from the Hebrew word Emmet)
  • Wisdom-the ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding. Wisdom is also the ability to see something from God’s viewpoint (from the Hebrew word Chokmah).

Here’s another Scripture

Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

One more,

Psalm 34:18: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Know that God is interested in your healing. He is in the business of healing broken hearts and shattered emotions. So many Scriptures speak to this truth. Jesus Himself was rejected so He knows a thing or two about it. Why leave Him out of your healing process?

When you’ve been rejected-run to Him for comfort

When you’ve been rejected- run to Him in prayer

When you’ve been rejected- run to HIm and tell Him how you feel-get it out

When you’ve been rejected-run to Him for healing

Just run to Him - don’t hide.

So, how is your inner woman? What condition or state is she in?

Is she healthy and thriving in God or is she sick with hurt, disappointments and pains of every kind that she has been unable or unwilling to let go of?

Think about this, is this you?

Matthew 23:27 (The Amplified Translation)

“Woe to you, [self-righteous] scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which look beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean.

I didn’t think so? That’s describing someone else.

Let’s take a look at one of the most devastating ways to get wounded in life. It doesn’t matter who you are, more than likely you have experienced rejection at some point in your life.

It stings. It stains. It stifles. It leaves memories behind and it takes intentionality to see those memories in the light of truth.

Let’s take a look at REJECTION

What’s rejection?

  • To throw away, as anything useless or vile.
  • To cast off or forsake.
  • To refuse to receive; to slight; to despise.
  • To discriminate, abandonment and neglect
  • To stink, emit stench, become odious (from the Hebrew word Zanach)

Not nice, right?

But truth be told rejection is all around you even in places you weren’t looking for it.

So let me ask you,

Have you ever been rejected?

Do you still carry that pain of being excluded or cast aside or that feeling of being dumped or abandoned?

Think about the above Scripture again, the one about looking pretty on the outside but inside-dead from the pain, the shock, the hurt.

Let’s face it rejection comes at you in lots of different ways from:

  • Family
  • Friends
  • On the job
  • Church
  • Our deepest relationships

Sometimes it seems to happen without warning, but it does happen. When it does, your world comes crashing down and despair sets in because your heart has been wounded.

Maybe you even reject yourself-you blame yourself for not being up to standard. For being stink although you didn’t have a clue. After all, if you weren’t, you wouldn't have been rejected, right?

Whether your experience/s happened long ago or yesterday, it normally hurts and sometimes it hurts for a long time. Where are you now, now that some time has passed? Still smarting from the experience or wiser and stronger for it?

Healed or Hurting Still?

What does your inner woman look like- are you healed or hurting still?

Ladies, like you I never saw any value in rejection. What good could possibly come of it?

Do you realise that the focus is always on the negatives- the despair that you feel, the hurt, the deep pain? While focusing on the negatives the answers that you seek seem far off and you just cannot make sense of it all.

You have questions.

Why?

Why did this happen? What did I do? How could I have prevented it?

But mostly you blame yourself. You’re just not perfect. You can never fit in. Noone will ever love me or want me to be their friend.

The more you think it through the more you are convinced that you know you are to be blamed.

You often come up with these answers to prove it:

  • I wasn’t good enough
  • He didn’t really love me
  • They never really cared about me
  • They only wanted to use me

The truth is, if it still hurts to think about these experiences-you’re still hurting!

If you still judge everything through the lens of rejection- you’re still hurting!

If you still think about the experience over and over again- you’re still hurting!

If when you think about those who have rejected you, all you feel is anger, pain or fear-you’re still hurting!

If you’re thinking next time you’ll know better and you build walls to:

  • hide behind
  • guard your heart or your bank account, or even your time, you’re still hurting
  • block the next suitor then, you’re still hurting
  • block the next friendship then you’re still hurting

BUT

You are healed when the memory no longer brings pain, regret or anger.

Escaping rejection takes persistence and grace because rejection’s hurt goes deep; waaaay deep. Everything you see, everything you hear, everything you do rejection attaches itself to- you smell it for days, months even years.

If the memories of that time in your life bring a smile to your face and sometimes a fist pump or a little jig then you know you are free from rejection’s grip. Let’s be real if this happens you are free from rejection’s stranglehold, free from rejection’s prison.

If when you look back you see a path to growth in your life and heart, then you’re healed.

If the experience/s has helped you to walk in so much more wisdom and the Holy Spirit is more involved in choosing your friends...and you now listen to His still small voice guiding you in this, then you’re healed.

If bitterness and resentment no longer plague your heart-, Then. You. Are. Healed.

Embrace Rejection

I have only seen rejection as an experience to be embraced after the fact, never while walking it out.

After I look back and see God’s hand in the midst of everything. It is only then I see rejection as God’s gift not an indication of my inadequacies.

Only God in His wisdom would have known that I didn’t need that job or that promotion like I thought I did.

Truthfully, I can look back and thank God and say to every Rejector-Thank you For rejecting me.

What about you?

I look in and I see that your heart has healed, and I see that you too are free Hear Psalm 124:7

Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

Hallelujah!

As Kingdom Women

As Kingdom women, to ensure that our inner woman is thriving- we must live healed, not hurting.

You must live knowing your worth and embracing who God made you to be.

You must live determined to not get caught up in rejection’s grip- you must live free of it.

Your heart must live without hurt or condemnation.

Truth be told, it isn’t even about you…

Remember:

  • If the memory no longer brings pain, regret or anger-you are healed.
  • If you look back and see God’s wisdom- you are healed.
  • if you've stopped reliving the experience over and over and over again- you are healed.

So, walk healed and don’t look back in that direction. You are FREE. Act like it.
