Does renewing your mind seem like a battle you can’t win? Is transformation a far off dream that seem impossible because change has been hard to come by?

If you ever found yourself (like I have) struggling with old thought patterns that have fueled negative habits and mindsets and wishing you had already conquered this, you’re in the right place.

The first thing you need to win is:

Transformation and change won't take place until you are willing to renew your mind with the Word of God.

Have you noticed that the same things you struggled with before you got saved you still struggle with now?

OR

you may have experienced change in some areas but not, other areas AND you want to change those negative thoughts and ideas.

But Why is there a struggle?

Because there is No Transformation…yet

Your mind can be a dark place where strongholds of doubt, fears, bad habits, pride, low-self-esteem, past trauma hide.

But, transformation comes when your mind is renewed, your ideas, your thoughts, your attitudes, your habits, your outlook are influenced by the WORD not the WORLD.

The WORD has the power to change your mind about various things, including the way you live your life or the way you experience your Christianity.

The WORD has power to change your life because faith says you can get the good things you are imagining for yourself not because you are relying on yourself but you are relying on Him who is faithful.

To be transformed by the renewing of your mind will not be easy- it will take effort because you must release the worldly world view and grab a hold of God’s worldview but for that to happen you have to be all in-all of you-all the time.

That’s how transformation comes:

A transformed mind thinks like a kingdom citizen not a worldly one.

Hear what Romans 12 :1-2 (Amplified Bible)

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

So, When you read the WORD you discover God’s thoughts, God’s ways, God’s attitude toward the different things you are concerned about in life.

As your mind is renewed you really can have the mind of Christ- the Bible says Christ is a reflection of God (who no one has seen) and you in turn become a reflection of Christ upon the earth.

I don’t know about you but that thought EXCITES me and it all starts as we renew our minds with the WORD of God.

From Hebrews 4:12 we know that the Word is supernatural.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two- edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12)

You may be feeling a little bit dirty since the WORD may have exposed some dirty laundry.

Don’t worry- the WORD is for every season and for all times.

John 5: 3 says

You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

Let that sink in…

The second thing you need to win:

What do I mean? Read for Ephesians 6 where you are taught about the Armor of God and how to put it on for it to be effective.

Put on The Armor of God- that you may be able to stand against the wiles,- the tricks, the plans and plots- of the devil and that at the end of it all you may prevail and STAND against him every day of your life.

Why?

The fight for your mind is not against physical opponents that you can see and touch and that you can create a physical strategy against.

The fight for your mind is against spirits that you can’t see and they come fully ranked, they come fully armed and very very organised and dangerous as:

You are up against evil forces that are bent on keeping you trapped in wrong thinking and wrong living

They all know you well.

They’ve been watching you for years. They know your history. They know every area of weakness and they come to keep you bound in your mind. Because where there is No clarity, No truth, where there is always doubt and you are never certain about who you are or who God is these spirits can run circles around you. They wear you out on your own.

BUT

The Armor of God is specially built for your protection BUT you must put it on, DAILY, you MUST use it to your advantage.

Let’s take a brief look at the full Armour of God.

The Belt of Truth: This is the WORD of God. Everything is held in place and held up by the WORD. Truth of the WORD vs the Lies of Satan. BUT you must know what the WORD says.

The Breastplate of Righteousness- protecting your heart; trust in God and in His faithfulness. Out of your heart flows the issues of life so says the Word of God.

The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace- Put them on. Lace them up-be surefooted; get ready to trample; get ready to trod upon the high places)

Above all

The Shield of Faith-take it up and use it to overcome the lies of the wicked one which comes with fire and threatens to consume you and everything you believe BUT faith acts like water to quench or put out every fiery dart. Faith stops every lie of satan and his army.

The Helmet of Salvation-take it to protect your mind; once saved always saved; get assurance that you are God’s child and He loves you and you are already victorious

The Sword of the Spirit- which is the Word-use it because the spirits will not back down. They are coming in hard. The Word is your offensive weapon. Use it liberally. Wield it with confidence.

The other pieces of the armor are built for you to withstand the enemy’s assault BUT the WORD is yours to use to cut his lies to pieces. It’s yours to demolish every stubborn issue- every besetting sin-every torment. Use the

Word- your enemies must back up.

What else do you NEED?

Prayer

The third thing you need to win

You know you are in a war you sense it all around you

I’m sure you have heard the phrase “the battlefield is in the mind” therefore you must be prepared to fight and win in this battle.

I want you to remember this scripture when you get weary or when you are uncertain of whether the war is real or not or when you’re on the verge of giving up; when life gets really hard I want you to remember:

I love this scripture it has brought me back from defeat many many times-it gave me enough strength to wheel the sword again; it gave me hope; it gave me energy; it gave me strength; it led me into prayer when the pressure for my mind became too much for me to handle alone:

Matt. 11:12 And From the days of John The Baptist until now the Kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent takes it by force.

Then what?

You must get physical- Do something

Hear what 2 Cor. 10: 3-5

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

Note you are flesh and blood but you can’t fight with your flesh (remember no good thing is in our flesh- here we are weak- the pride, the fear; the doubt, the double mindedness, sexual perversion, all kinds of evil can hide there) we can’t bring those things to battle

Instead, you take into battle the things God gave you- the spiritual things He Himself has made available to you.

Here are a few (some I’ve already mentioned):

Get Physical

We Use to pull down STRONGHOLDS (areas that have become impenetrable because of lies you’ve believed). To pull down strongholds we need the word of God in our hearts and Minds and in our mouths -Your breastplate protects your heart

We Use to cast down (throw down) arguments and every high thing (pride and haughty thought) that wants to prove itself right and the knowledge of God wrong; that is anything that wants to discredit God. Here we need the helmet of salvation to protect our minds even as we cast down or throw down wrong mindsets using worship, the word, prayer

We Use the weapons of our warfare to bring every thought into captivity-every word is viewed through the word. It is good is it acceptable, is it pleasing? Don’t just let your mind wander aimlessly. Know what you are thinking about.

Be mindful. Your enemy the devil lurks waiting for that moment to move in and kill, steal and destroy your mind before you even realise it.

How many times have you caught yourself thinking wrong thoughts?

How many times has anger stirred up in you against someone for an imagined slight?

How many times have you caught yourself accusing a fellow Christian?

How many times have you caught yourself caught up in bitterness and resentment?

How many times have you caught yourself reliving an experience that you struggle to forgive?

That’s satan and his troops-they will run your mind if you let them

BUT it is time to be transformed by RENEWING your MIND.

Remember this- You cannot remain PASSIVE-You MUST ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE in filling your mind with the WORD of God which offers no hiding place for the enemy because it will be filled with light and truth.
